In my distress, I prayed to the Lord, who answered and set me free.

– Psalm 118:5

Great Lakes Women’s Counseling is a Christian discipleship program helping women struggling with poor mental health. Through therapy and faith-based practices, our Christian counseling provides a unique approach to mental health treatment that can bring healing and hope to those struggling.

We believe that the answer is Jesus Christ.

Poor mental health affects millions of women around the world. Great Lakes Women’s Counseling accepts applicants from all walks of life. Many women who struggle with poor mental health are hesitant to seek help due to stigma, shame, or fear of judgment. Christian counseling offers a safe, non-judgmental environment where women can open up about their struggles and find support and guidance.

Great Lakes Women’s Counseling Location

Our Great Lakes Women’s Counseling program is 12 months and based at the Robby Dawson Home for Women. We decided to name this beautiful facility after a young man named Robby Dawson, who struggled with poor mental health for many years before passing away the same year our new building was acquired. We sincerely thank The Fleck Foundation, The Dawson Family, and the many other donors who have made this home possible. In 2001, the Fleck Foundation – with help from the Dawson Family – graciously donated a much larger building to us in the historic Concordia neighborhood on the west end of downtown Milwaukee.

Take Back Control From Poor Mental Health and Set Yourself Free

Currently, the Great Lakes Women’s Counseling Center houses up to 30 adult female residents (nearly 100 annually) at no charge to them. These women are discovering God and learning to conquer their mental health issues for good—a refuge of hope for those seeking help. One of the key benefits of Christian counseling is the integration of faith into therapy. Our team of counselors understands the importance of faith in the lives of their clients and recognizes that spirituality can play a significant role in mental health. By incorporating faith-based practices into therapy, such as prayer, scripture reading, and meditation, our Christian counselors can help their clients find meaning and purpose in their struggles and draw on their faith for strength and comfort.
